Helping other couples improve and strengthen their marriages is one of the calling that me and my wife do in our life.
We just finished the Cebu run of Happy Wife, Happy Life.
Almost 200 couples were there; young and mature couples. I and my wife were so blessed that we were given the opportunity to help them and share to them our personal experiences on how God use our marriage in order encourage others.
Allow me to share with you one compelling thing that created a major impact on the session.
MYTHS ABOUT MARRIAGE
And They Lived Happily Ever After???
We often watch Disney Princess movies; how their lives started to experience hardships and cruelty from an evil step mother. How they were able to meet Prince Charming and towards the end got married and ended with the quote, “And They Lived Happily Ever After. The End.”
The problem with the movie; it never showed the part two. How they at time, have disagreements and how they intentionally or intentionally hurt each other. How they were able to patch up and fix their relationships.
Believe me, there is no such thing as a perfect marriage since we all have selfish and sinful nature. We are talking about two imperfect beings that has flaws and weaknesses put together by God in order to become better persons.
That is the reason why we just need to admit that we need to CHANGE and IMPROVE.
The greatest room that we can ever have in our lives is CHANGE & IMPROVEMENT.
So let us continue to ask and evaluate ourselves.
What are the things we can CHANGE & IMPROVE?
Is it your temper issues? You easily get irritated or get angry if things did not happen according to your plan or way.
Is it a bad habit? You just have a hard time closing doors or drawers once you open it.
Is it your spending issues? You just have a hard time controlling yourself to spend even if there is no need for you to buy things.
Can these habits be changed?
The issue is not the weakness but the issue is if you are willing to admit and accept that you need to CHANGE & IMPROVE?
The first step towards a happy and better marriage is ADMISSION that you need to fix the issues.
Me and my wife were so glad that many people inside the room were so brave to admit that they have issues, that there is a need for CHANGE & IMPROVEMENT.
How about you? Are you also open for CHANGE & IMPROVEMENT?
THINK. REFLECT. APPLY.
What are the issues you have in your life? Is it a bad habit? Is it a pride issue? Is it a money issue?
Are you willing and open for CHANGE & IMPROVEMENT?
If you are, what are you planning to do about it?
