And how do you develop self-control? This is one rule that I have been personally practicing for the longest time.
ONE MONTH RULE
Gusto mong mag-European travel? Gusto mong mag-resign? Gusto mong magtayo ng restaurant? Gusto mong bumili ng sports car?
Lahat ng gusto mo ay ilista mo sa notebook mo then put the date kung kelan mo inilista ang bagay na yun. Wait for thirty days bago ka umaksyon. While waiting ay ibaling mo muna sa iba ang iyong attention so that when the one month is up, you have a clearer mind.
After a month ay balikan mo ang listahan mo and assess if you still want the thing na nakalista sa notebook mo. If wala ng spark, then you saved yourself from the troubles na pwedeng naidulot ng pagiging impulsive. But if you still want the thing, then go for it.
Enjoy the journey. Enjoy the days in between. Huwag mong i-stress ang sarili mo kasi remember that good things come to those who wait.
Self-control is a gift from God. Tanging si God lamang ang makakapagbigay sa atin ng grace to control ourselves in every situation or decision. So sa one month na naghihintay ka, pray to Him that He will give you the grace that you need. And that He will give you the wisdom to decide and to act according to His will.
THINK. REFLECT. APPLY.
Ikaw, kamusta ang iyong self-control?
If you want to develop self-control, follow the one-month rule.
And don’t forget to ask for God’s help in your journey.
